Key takeaways: Conversion rate on Amazon is unit session percentage: units ordered divided by sessions, in Business Reports by ASIN. It moves with eight things, and in most accounts they rank in this order: price and offer, rating and review count, gallery images, delivery promise and stock, A+ Content, bullets, variations and answered questions. Find which one is yours by comparing your page with the page-one competitor a shopper sees next, fix that one, and read the result over three to four weeks.
The number and where to find it
Seller Central, Business Reports, Detail Page Sales and Traffic by Child Item. The column is Unit Session Percentage. It counts units, not orders, so multipacks and multi-unit orders lift it, and it uses sessions, so repeat views by the same shopper within a day count once.
Read it by child ASIN, not parent, because variation children can convert very differently. Read it over at least two weeks, because daily figures swing with promotions and with the mix of paid and organic traffic. And read it beside traffic: a conversion rate that rose because a discovery campaign was paused is not an improvement in the page.
Amazon does not publish category benchmarks. The comparison that matters is with your own history and with the competitor whose page a shopper opens next.

Every lever below can lift conversion. Pulling all of them at once takes months and tells you nothing about what worked. Diagnose first.

The eight levers
| Lever | What it looks like when it is the problem | Fix | Time to read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price and offer | Sessions steady, conversion fell when a competitor cut price or you removed a coupon | Reprice within margin; coupon; pack size; Subscribe & Save for consumables | 1 to 2 weeks |
| Rating and reviews | Rating below the page-one median, or a recent run of low stars visible at the top | Fix the product or expectation gap; Request a Review on every order; Vine for new ASINs | 4 to 12 weeks |
| Gallery images | Reviews and returns cite size, fit or "not what I expected" | Dimensions, feature and contents infographics; two honest lifestyle images | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Delivery and stock | Merchant-fulfilled with a slow promise; low FBA stock showing "only 2 left"; stock-outs | FBA; inbound before days of cover fall; regional placement | 1 to 2 weeks |
| A+ Content | No A+, or A+ that repeats the bullets with stock photos | Comparison chart, objections module, Brand Story; Premium where eligible | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Bullets | Bullets written as marketing, not answers | Rewrite by objection, one fact per bullet | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Variations | Shopper cannot find their size or color; default child out of stock | Fix the default child; complete attribute values; merge or split where warranted | 2 to 3 weeks |
| Questions and content gaps | The same unanswered question in Q&A and reviews | Answer it in a bullet and an image, and answer the Q&A directly | 3 to 4 weeks |
Price and rating lead because they are what a shopper compares between two open tabs. A perfect page at a price 30% above the alternative, or with a rating half a star below, converts worse no matter how good the A+ is.
Two levers sellers underrate
Delivery promise. The delivery date under the price is read by almost every shopper and is a conversion input Amazon itself emphasizes. A merchant-fulfilled offer promising delivery in six days loses to an FBA offer promising two, at the same price. Low stock also hurts: "only 3 left in stock" reads as urgency to sellers and as risk to some buyers.
Answered questions. The Customer questions section and the questions buried in reviews are a list of the objections your page failed to answer. Each one that repeats is a bullet you should have written and an image you should have made. Working through that list is the highest-yield copy task on most listings, and the method is in Amazon Bullet Points That Convert: Structure and Examples.
Conversion and advertising
Ads buy sessions; conversion decides what those sessions are worth. A 2-point lift in unit session percentage lowers ACoS on every campaign pointed at the ASIN without a single bid change, and lifts organic rank because sales velocity rose. This is why we fix the page before we scale the spend, and why a conversion problem shows up first as a rising ACoS. If ACoS is what brought you here, the order of checks is in Amazon ACoS Too High? What to Fix First (and What to Leave Alone).
Reading the result honestly
Hold price and ad spend steady while you read a page change. Compare the same weekday span, exclude event weeks, and read by child ASIN. For ASINs with enough traffic, run the change as a Manage Your Experiments test and let Amazon do the comparison. If conversion rose but returns rose with it, the change oversold; check the return reasons before calling it a win.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good conversion rate on Amazon?
There is no published benchmark, and it varies widely by category and price point. The useful comparisons are your own ASIN's history and the trend after a change. If unit session percentage is falling while sessions hold, something on the page or in the offer has changed relative to competitors.
Does A+ Content improve conversion rate?
In most accounts, yes, when it answers objections the bullets could not and compares your own range. A+ that repeats the bullets over stock photos rarely moves the number. Measure it ASIN by ASIN, before and after, or with a Manage Your Experiments test.
Why did my conversion rate drop with no change to the listing?
Look outside the page: a competitor's price cut or new coupon, a run of recent low-star reviews, a stock dip that changed the delivery promise, a lost Buy Box, or a shift in traffic mix toward broad discovery keywords that convert worse. Business Reports and the Buy Box percentage column will usually show which.
How long should I wait to judge a listing change?
Three to four weeks for copy, images and A+; one to two weeks for price and delivery changes; longer for reviews. Daily conversion rates are too noisy to act on.
