Seller Central is the web portal Amazon provides to third-party sellers to run their selling account. It covers the catalog (adding and editing listings), inventory and FBA shipments, orders and returns, pricing, promotions, payments and reports, account health and performance notifications, Seller Support cases, and the brand tools available to Brand Registry members, including A+ Content Manager, Stores, Brand Analytics and Vine. Vendors who sell wholesale to Amazon use a separate portal, Vendor Central.

Why it matters

Everything that is not advertising happens here. A suppressed listing, a stranded SKU, a variation that Amazon split, a performance notification that threatens the account, a payment that does not reconcile: all are found and fixed in Seller Central. The Business Reports section holds the traffic and conversion data that judges every listing change, and the Reports Repository holds the inventory, fee and settlement data that a profit model is built from.

Access is where security lives. Seller Central supports multiple users with granular permissions, and Amazon expects agencies and staff to be added as users rather than to share the primary login. Two-step verification is mandatory.

What moves it

  • User permissions, which can be limited to the sections a person needs.
  • Account health metrics: order defect rate, late shipment rate, cancellation rate, valid tracking rate and policy compliance, which Amazon enforces against thresholds.
  • Notifications, which arrive in the Performance Notifications page and by email and are easy to miss.
  • Marketplace scope. A unified account covers several marketplaces in one region, each with its own catalog and settings.

How we use it

We work in Seller Central as a named user with the permissions the engagement needs and nothing more, which we set out in writing before starting. Catalog fixes go through Seller Support cases with the evidence attached and the case number logged. Business Reports feed the weekly report, and the Performance Notifications and Fix Your Products pages are on the always-on monitoring list.
