Premium A+ Content is the upper tier of Amazon's A+ Content program. It offers larger, full-width modules, embedded video, interactive hover hotspots on images, image carousels, Q&A-style modules and a wider comparison chart, and it allows more modules per page than standard A+. Amazon opened it to brand-registered sellers who meet published eligibility criteria, rather than only to vendors paying for it as it once was.

Why it matters

Premium A+ is the closest a product page gets to a brand's own website. The modules are roughly twice the width of standard A+ on desktop, video plays inline without leaving the page, and hotspots let a shopper explore features without scrolling through six images. For products that need explanation, such as electronics, appliances, furniture or anything with a set-up step, that usually helps conversion. For a simple product in a commodity category, the gain is often small.

Eligibility is the practical hurdle. Amazon's criteria have required a published Brand Story on all of the brand's ASINs and a track record of approved standard A+ submissions within the previous 12 months, and the criteria can change. Check the A+ Content Manager in Seller Central for the current status of your account.

What moves it

  • Video quality. Premium A+ video that repeats the gallery adds nothing; video that demonstrates a use case does.
  • Hotspot restraint. Three or four well-placed hotspots beat ten.
  • Mobile behavior. Most modules stack on mobile, so the design has to work in a single column.
  • Load and review time. Premium modules have strict pixel specifications and take longer to build and approve.

How we use it

We do not upgrade to Premium A+ by default. When an account qualifies, we build the Premium version for the ASINs where explanation drives the sale, measure it against the existing A+ on conversion, and keep it where the data supports it. The Brand Story requirement is usually the first job, because it unlocks eligibility and is worth having in its own right.
